Values and Mission
-How to identify them and why is it important to do so?
By the term Value we mean the ideals that guide our moral choices.
Values are the principles that individuals or a community consider superior or preferable. They are used as criteria for judging or evaluating behavior or actions. They are connected in various ways to the social and political reality, such as economic and legal organization, traditions, customs and symbols of a community, so they change between different cultures and historical periods.
Unfortunately, nowadays we are less and less educated to follow our values, children are not given any instruments to know the values that guide them and to fight actively to pursue them.
But why is it so important to know our values?
Knowing the values that guide us in the various stages of our life is essential to achieve our goals that we have set for ourselves, for example, our life will never be in harmony if we are pursuing a goal that conflicts totally with our core values, regardless of the effort or motivation that we put in that task, it will be very difficult to complete it, because at the base there will always be a discordance between conscious and unconscious (what we want and what we really are).
The work on oneself and in this specific case on Values, will allow you through a structured technique, to go beyond the superficial appearance of what you think you want, through a deep introspective investigation to identify what we really are.
All this in order to create a list of values from which we will then identify an order of priority and establish specific Criteria to understand if we are really living in everyday life the values that we have found; from the first three, also called Guiding Values, we can then identify our Mission.
Having this awareness, about what our Values and our Mission are, are a fundamental step towards an awareness of ourselves, who we are, what we want and above all a faithful indication, which will allow us to understand in every moment of our life if the goals we choose are really aligned with what we want.
